Debra Rainbow Heart has been engaged in the healing arts for 25 years as a student, teacher, polarity therapy, bodywork and energy medicine practitioner; facilitator, mentor, artist, musician and ceremonialist. She is a Full Mesa Carrier in the Peruvian wisdom keeper traditions, a shamanic practitioner and Munay-Ki Mentor and Steward. She received the first eight Munay-Ki rites over a three year period while doing her personal medicine wheel healing work and shamanic training with Alberto Villoldo, Ph.D. (medical anthropologist, psychologist, and author of numerous books on energy medicine.) and founder of the Four Winds Society – Healing the Light Body school. She received the ninth rite, and learned how to transmit all the Munay-Ki Rites during a “life changing” week of rites and ceremony with several Q’ero elders from Peru. Debra has been blessed to study with and/or co-create ceremony with numerous Native American and multi-cultural elders from the United States, Mexico, Peru, Mongolia, Tibet and Africa.
In addition to continuing advanced studies with The Four Winds Society, Debra has studied Core Shamanism with Nan Moss and David Corbin, faculty of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies, founded by Michael Harner, Ph.D.. She is also a professional member of the FSS and the Society for Shamanic Practitioners. Debra completed the Polarity Realization Institute’s 650 hour Polarity Therapy program in 1998 and has been a professional healing arts practitioner since 1996.

Debra has continued studies in numerous healing arts modalities including: herbal medicine with British herbalist, Anne McIntyre and Deb Soul of Avena Botanicals; Flower Essences – Rowe Conference Center; Reiki Healing – Holistic Pathways; Songs for Gaia Retreat Week with Brook Medicine Eagle, Wolf Creek, Montana; Touch Drawing with Helen Warren and with the support of Deborah Koff-Chapin – The Center for Touch Drawing; Natural History Conference – Star Island for 20 years. Debra holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of New Hampshire, and has participated in many leadership development programs. She served as Executive Director and on the Executive Management Teams of several non-profit social service, arts and humanities organizations for more than 20 years.
Medicine Wheel Ceremony
Debra has been guided by Spirit to lead and co-create earth ceremonies and shamanic healing rites in New England, and many locations in the American west, southwest and Alaska. She lived in New Mexico for over a year conducting a series of ceremonies as guided by Spirit in the dream time and in meditation. As a member of the Shamanic Ceremonial Music Ensemble, (founded by Niles Urry, who produced Brook Medicine Eagle’s “Gathering the Sacred Breath CD), Debra participated in three week-long wilderness retreats in Mt. Hood, Oregon, Haines, Alaska and in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah. Gathered around the sacred fire in night time ceremony, the ensemble merged with spirit to create shamanic trance music and healing. During these gatherings, Debra found that many spirits chose to come and sing and play through her flutes and drums, deepening her shamanic music practice. Over the years Debra’s art has also been deeply influenced by her shamanic practice. She works primarily in mixed media and shows and sells originals and prints of her work worldwide.
