Conscious Dying

Conscious Dying

wisdom-mountains

It is said our wisdom returns to the mountains.

In the West, we have forgotten how to die with grace and the knowledge that death is part of a circular nature of life and journey of the spirit. Many of us have lost a loved one, and felt alone or overwhelmed during the process. Our medical system can offer extreme measures to prolong life, yet our culture offers little support to the family or individual in the process of dying. As a result, many people die in fear and anger, with unresolved issues that remain bound in the luminous energy field at death. Dying consciously provides tangible tools for closure, dignity and peace at the end of one’s life.

During my shamanic training with The Four Winds Society, we learned simple yet powerful processes to assist an individual and their families to move through the dying process with greater ease and grace. The shaman has always played a role in assisting the journey of souls – even after death. With the steps and processes of “dying consciously”, the family (with the support of the shamanic practitioner trained in this work, if they wish), can support their loved one to die with dignity, and no unfinished business. The process is healing for all, as the family plays a key role in supporting a loved one to die with grace.  Family members can also benefit from shamanic energy work  to support a “healthy” grieving process and rebuilding of one’s life during periods of care taking or following the death of a loved one.

The Rainbow Bridge between this world and the next.

The Rainbow Bridge between this world and the next.

The process includes:

• Providing information on the relationship between the luminous energy field, its relationship to the physical body in life and in the death and dying process.

• Suggestions for creating a “sacred”, “holy” space for the loved one as they move through this process and prepare for the great journey of the spirit.

• Guides you through the recapitulation process….where the “I love yous”, “I forgive yous” are completed; and the process of taking charge of one’s own death process as much as possible, including writing an obituary and planning of a memorial or other service.

• Deep cleansing of the chakra system of the luminous body. When the soul is clear and free of karmic or other energetic residue, it is free to journey home to the ancestors. Much deep clearing can happen at this time, because “everything is up” when a person is in the dying process.

• Giving the dying person permission to go….. support for the family, to emotionally and energetically let their loved one go…..so the dying person is not bound to their physical body beyond their time, or bound to their family members and unable to journey home.

• When the physical body has died, there is a beautiful process, known as the death spiral, to help free the luminous body from the physical body and send it back to the Light and the place of the Ancestors.

The Four Winds Society has formed a non-profit organization to help educate and train practitioners in the Dying Consciously Process. I received training in all the processes described here and others, in the Healing the Light Body School. I will be participating in further trainings that are currently being developed. Please check the list of links for more information on dying consciously and to order the free DVD.

Please contact me should you desire further information or support for offering or receiving any of the above processes.
