The Peruvian medicine path shared by the Q’ero elders of the high Andes of Peru is one of many paths in the Shamanic tradition.  It is a path that recognizes the health of our “rainbow body” or “light body” as essential to our well-being.  It is understood that our light body carries all the stories, history, ancestral woundings, blessings and karma of all our lifetimes.  Often the heavy energies ,”hucha” accumulated over this or many lifetimes block our full access to the energies of Light and Creator Spirit “sami”.  The accumulation of these heavy energies is widely seen in our culture, in part because we have forgotten our awareness of our light body and how to care for it.  As a modern society, we have also lost our deep connection to Pachamama, Mother Earth, and many of us have limited knowledge of our ancestral heritage and spiritual roots.  As a result, often without realizing it, we have experienced a great deal of disempowerment.  We look outside ourselves to fill this void, without realizing it is our deep internal well and luminous body that are seeking to be cleared and replenished.

The path of the “mesa carrier” is the path of “munay”, compassion and unconditional love.  There are many paths a mesa carrier can take depending on how they work with spirit to develop their gifts.  The shaman’s mesa is her sacred altar.  It contains her power objects received during her own journey of initiation, connecting her to places and sources of power.  During the initiation and healing process to becoming a mesa carrier, the shaman also receives the sacred rites of passage.  These sacred rites, recently distilled in a new form known as the “munay-ki”, are energetic transmissions which support the transformation of the luminous energy field into a “rainbow body” and connect the individual to lineages of wisdom keepers and angelic realms who work with and through her.  The rites are cultivated over time with intention and attention as the shaman deepens her or his connection to these energies and their gifts.

The Q’ero shamans of Peru are the direct descendants of the mystical Inca “People of Light”.  Their medicine traditions are considered among the purest in form for that region of the Americas,  as the “Q’ero have lived in virtual isolation at 14,000 feet in the Andes mountains for the past 500 years.  They are the wisdom keepers and keepers of the sacred prophecies of “the time to come”.  We are now living in the time of the prophecies that have been foreseen by many cultures from the Mayan to the Hopi Indians of the American Southwest.  The sharing of the sacred healing practices and the Munay-Ki at this time is in keeping with the prophecy of this time of upheaval and change….to rebalance our planet.  The Q’ero and many wisdom keepers have “come out of hiding” to offer powerful assistance to us and our imperiled planet.   They have protected and now share these wisdom teachings and healing practices to help us prepare for a new era of enlightenment on the earth.
